Fraud trial against executive chairman of JJB Sports begins

Miranda Moore QC, instructed by the Serious Fraud Office, has started opening for the prosecution in the trial of the former executive chairman of JJB Sports, Sir David Jones, at Leeds Crown Court.  He stands accused of making a misleading statement, contrary to the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, and using a false instrument, contrary to the Forgery and Counterfeiting Act 1981.

Sir David denies both charges.
