2 year conditional discharge secured in production of cannabis case

Richard Padley secured a 2 year conditional discharge for an individual who had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to produce cannabis at Reading Crown Court. The conspiracy involved a series of freight crates linked together and buried underneath a farm. The cannabis farm was estimated to produce a yield of £337,000 per annum, considered by the court as a large commercial quantity, verging on industrial. A basis of plea had been submitted reducing the individual’s role to such an extent that the Court did not consider the sentencing guidelines of any use in this particular case. Consequently a 2 year conditional discharge was imposed.
