Police Officer and Scout leader Convicted of Sexual Offences

A former police officer and scout leader has been convicted of forty offences relating to sexual offfences committed over a period of thirty-seven years.

Miranda Moore QC, instructed by the Crown Prosecution Service, successfully prosecuted Allan Richards at Birmingham Crown Court. Richards served with West Midlands Police for thirty-one years and used access to a police database to access information about young men. His convictions, following two trials, include two offences of rape.

The case has received widespread national press coverage, including from the BBC and The Guardian. He will be sentenced on 4th November 2015.
